Escape Artist

I worked on a student film called Escape Artist, directed by Nicole Harker and Preston King, for a collaborative stop motion class. Other team members included Yvette Zhang, Katie Lathrop, and Allyssa Hill. I was the main scenic artist and painted the set walls and the many laser-cut elements like the frames seen throughout the film. I also illustrated and did concept drawings for most of the paintings inside the frames, including the hero frame and its miniature version. Additionally, I sculpted and painted the gargoyles and motifs seen on the roof of the museum.

Texturing walls and floors.

Used gesso to prime the surface of the walls and floors, paying attention to the stroke direction.
House paint evenly painted over top. Sponged on watered-down gesso and dark watercolor for texture around corners.

Frames and Wall Embellishments

I sanded down laser-cut frames and wall embellishments designed by Preston, and I primed and painted them. I printed my illustrations on canvas paper and cut them out to fit in the frames.
